The Language Link Cultural Experience Program is an exciting program designed for English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) learners like you. This program offers English learners an opportunity to better their communication skills through semi-intensive English language instruction and a variety of activities that let you experience the culture of the United States in a number of different settings. During your time in the United States, you will participate in academic, social, and service-oriented activities that will give you real-life opportunities to practice your English and give back to the communities you visit.

When you choose to become a participant in the Language Link Cultural Experience Program, you will have the opportunity to experience the United States in a way that a tourist would never be able to. In fact, every day of the program will be carefully planned out allowing you to maximize your time in the USA and experience the culture of the United States in a whole new light. And to make your stay even more culturally rewarding, you will stay with an American host family who will cater to your needs and show you what family life in the USA is all about!

In addition to a number of exciting social, academic, and leisure activities in Logan, Utah where the program is based, you will also enjoy an exciting excursion to a popular tourist attraction or city like Las Vegas, San Francisco, Disneyland, Sea World, or other popular destinations. Each program session will be customized and will provide a very unique experience. In fact, we believe that you will enjoy the program so much that you will want to join us for another session!

About Logan, Utah

Logan, Utah is located in beautiful Cache Valley, only 85 miles north of Salt Lake City and was recently selected as the United State's safest city. The city was founded in 1859 by Mormon settlers and is known for its scenic beauty. One of Cache Valley's main attractions is the American West Heritage Center, where you can relive 100 years of American West history. Logan is also home to Utah State University.

Cache Valley is known for its outdoor recreation opportunities: camping, fishing, mountain biking, boating, and hiking. During the summer months, thousands make the short trip to Bear Lake to enjoy its beautiful blue waters and small town feel. In the winter, many are attracted to Beaver Mountain Ski Resort where they enjoy some of the greatest snow on earth!

Living with a Host Family

During your time in the United States you will stay with a Host Family that has been hand selected to best meet your needs. You will spend each morning and evening with the family during the program with the exception of a short out-of-state excursion to a popular tourist attraction. During that time you will stay in a hotel provided by Language Link.

You and your Host Family will have the exciting opportunity of planning activities to enjoy together each evening. Some nights might be spent at the home of the family enjoying a movie and popcorn while others might be spent at a nice restaurant followed by a performance at the local theater or concert hall. You and your family will work together to plan these activities. Plan to bring some extra spending money to help with the cost of evening activities and meals with your Host Family. The cost of housing and any meals provided to you at the home of the Host Family will be covered by your program participation fee.

Each Host Family that has been selected for the program will provide you with a private bedroom (or shared with another program participant) and access to a private bathroom. Your Host Family will provide bedding, soap, and a bath towel for showering. Because you will be here for an extended period of time, your Host Family will also provide you access to a washing machine and dryer to launder your clothing.

The time you spend with your Host Family will provide you with endless opportunities to experience United States culture and to practice your English language skills. You will experience first-hand what family life in the United States is all about!
